Three of the top coaches in the country have come together to support the work of leadership development and church transformation through the empowering of coaches to work within jurisdictions and annual conferences. Our trainers bring over 30 years of coaching experience, many years of coach training and a record of equipping pastors and local congregations. Our mission is to support the transformation of the church through partnerships that equip, empower and emphasize discovery.

Coach Training for Leaders
Learn coaching skills so that you can use this proven, effective approach to empowering individuals, relationships, teams, and organizations. Our credentialing path programs equip you with transformational coaching skills and culminate in attainment of your coach credentials. The six-month training program involves 60 hours of experiential face-to-face learning using quality materials and led by excellent experienced coaches and trainers. The other major component of the training is mentor coaching which helps new coaches hone their coaching skills.
Coaching is a powerful relationship where trained coaches assist persons and organizations to design their future through clarifying and focusing on their unique gifts and calling; and creating goals and strategies to achieve this future while improving their flow and ease in all of their lives. Coaching both develops the whole person/team and accomplishes the results they are aiming to achieve. In short, learn to help persons become more fully alive—and guess what, experience shows that coaching students not only learn to help others in their development, but have huge, transformational learning themselves.
Each three day training event is designed to provide the basic coaching skills and a strong understanding of skills, resources, techniques to support leadership teams in local congregations in moving toward effective ministry. It is a fast-paced, highly interactive training that includes both theory and practice. Participants leave with a set of tools for launching this ministry.
All participants receive 2 CEU’s and a certificate of training at the completion of each training event.
Training Modules
All training modules are approved as Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) by the ICF (International Coach Federation). Coach Training for Leaders is an accredited training program by the ICF (International Coach Federation).
- 60 contact hours of training are required to apply for certification at the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) level through ICF. Additional requirements also apply.
- 125 contact hours of training are required to apply for certification at the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) level through ICF. Additional requirements also apply.
- Each module may be used for CEU requirements and/or movement toward the next level of certification.
- 10 hours of mentor coaching are required for ACC or PCC certification. See description below.
Following the completion of Module 1 (see below) participants in the Coach Training for Leaders program may choose (mix and match) modules that most closely relate to their specific area of interest.

Module 3: Transformational Coaching (20 Hours)
Module 4: Discipleship Coaching (20 Hours)
Module 5: Creating and Facilitating Coaching Groups (20 Hours)
Module 6: Transformational Coaching With HEART (20 Hours)
Module 7: Authentic Relationships (5 Hours)
Total cost including mentor coaching and materials.
Payment plan is available via registration form.
Individual modules are available at a rate of $700 each
for continuing education or non-professional training.
Full Program Cost: $3500.00
Coach Training for Leaders is an accredited training program for ACC level professional coaches through the International Coach Federation.
Mentor Coaching Groups are available to meet requirements for credentialing and continuing education!
Groups happen each Spring and Fall. The next group meets August 7, September 4, October 2 and November 6, 2018, from 1pm-3pm Eastern Standard Time plus 3 individual sessions.

Meet Our Experienced Trainers
Dr. Phil Maynard
Director
Dr. Phil Maynard has served as Director, Path 1 Coaching Network (Discipleship Ministries); Director, Excellence in Ministry Coaching (www.emc3coaching.com); and Director, Coach Training for Leaders (www.empowercoaches.com). Before taking an early retirement to enter a full-time ministry of coaching, consulting, and training, Phil served as Director of Congregational Excellence for the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Phil is an Endorsed coach (UMEA), a certified Conflict/Mediation Coach, and licensed trainer/ facilitator. Phil is a graduate of Duke Divinity School (M.Div & Th.M); University of Kansas (M.S.Ed); and Drew (D.Min). He is the author of several books and other resources, including:

Dr. Larry Ousley
Trainer
Dr. Larry Ousley is the Executive Director of the Intentional Growth Center (IGC). Before coming to IGC in 2000, he served as senior pastor of several large churches in the Holston Conference of the UMC.
He is a life coach recognized through the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) in 2004 and as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in 2010. Larry is also an Endorsed Life Coach by the United Methodist Endorsing Agency, is a Certified Organizational Relationship Systems Coach (ORSCC), and is a faculty member and a mentor coach on an ICF approved international coaching school.
He was an author in the anthology—Ministry 3.0: How today’s church leaders are using coaching to transform ministry. Larry has lead approximately 10 long-term group leadership coaching projects and has over 2,000 hours of experience coaching pastors, district superintendents, and conference staff persons.
Dr. Jim Robey
Trainer
Dr. Jim Robey is a minister and a Professional Certified Coach, and was the first United Methodist clergy to be officially endorsed for the Ministry of Life Coaching. He is the Executive Director for Attentional Growth Inc, a non-profit organization he founded in 2004. Jim is a renowned speaker, seminar leader, teacher, minister and coach with a profound commitment to help others grow in their work and life.
He was a coach for Path 1 working with a new church pastor in Montana. His ministry takes him across the United States and the world to work with a variety of church and non-profit groups.Jim earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and is a graduate of the Co-Active Leadership Program of the Coaches Training Institute in California. He is passionate about bringing coaching more fully into the church and beyond into the world.
Included in his coaching is his humor, experiences, 38 years of ministry, love for God and the church, and profound commitment to helping grow others in their ministry and connection to God. He is working with new coaching partners in Ireland, England, Kenya, South Africa and Swaziland to expand the impact of coaching for church and business leaders there.
Lonna Lynn Euler Higgs
Trainer
Lonna Lynn Euler Higgs is an Associate Certified Coach and an elder in The United Methodist Church. She is the founder of coaching4growing,llc, a practice focused on coaching clients—individuals and organizations—to cultivate fruitful relationships and lead transformational change. All her clients are encouraged to name a mission, claim a vision and move toward the fulfillment of both.
Endorsed for the ministry of life coaching by the United Methodist Endorsing Agency (UMEA), Lonna Lynn is on the training team of Coach Training for Leaders, an ICF certified coach training program and is a member of the Clergy Coaching Network (CCN). She received her coach training from Coaching4Clergy and is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Vanderbilt Divinity School.
Prior to answering God’s call to full-time coaching, Lonna Lynn spent twenty-nine years in pastoral ministry and non-profit administration. She is an experienced retreat leader, speaker, mentor and teacher. She serves as a Residency in Ministry Coach for persons entering ordained ministry and is known for her work as a worship planner and choreographer. Her commitment to lifelong learning led to her to the Perkins School of Theology Spiritual Director Certification Program, which she is scheduled to complete in July 2017.
